Gaelic culture and pre-Norman Celtic Church, I've heard people say it was more akin to orthodoxy than catholicism.
People always interpreted shit from their own perspectives, like Renaissance artists painting roman soldiers in full knightly plate armour. As a divine it makes sense for Jesus to be depicted as beautiful with blonde eyes and blue hair, also interesting to note the Roman soldiers arresting him at Gethsemane look like Kerns.
