because the lives of historical people is interesting, because cinema can transport us to imagine another era. because cinema is not about telling spectacular stories like forgettable superhero movies, but telling things about the human soul.

That's not true.

Legionary recruitment occurred in all provinces of the empire, including Egypt, where Nubians that look relatively like your average nog were a common sight, especially among the preexisting warrior class, and as mercenaries.

There's no reason to assume that in northern campaigns you wouldn't see the odd Nubian in the ranks, alongside all the Egyptians, Levantines, Greeks, Cyrenecians, Mauretanians, Hispanians etc that would form the bulk of these legions.

Just become some retards WEWUZ doesn't mean you have to take the complete opposite position in order to prove them wrong. Doing so just makes you as wrong as them.

I know that there was black people as empire citizens and perhaps a good contingent of African soldiers, since it is nearly impossible for all legionaries being from only the city of Rome and Italian peninsula.
However, how common it was? Also, what were the chances of them to be serving as north as Britannia?

It is like you people are denying that BBC has an agenda, it has.

>>3312508
and no, it is not that bad, but it is still a dishonest thing to do.
>>
>>3312650
>However, how common it was?
Obviously not very common, that's why most of the soldiers will be white or brown, but to say there should be no blacks is just stupid.

>Also, what were the chances of them to be serving as north as Britannia?
Very high, generally Rome deployed legionary recruits as far from their home provinces as possible, to minimise the risk of desertion.

>It is like you people are denying that BBC has an agenda, it has.
Maybe, I mean the cartoons with black Normans and shit is obviously fucking retarded, but this isn't the same thing.
>>
>>3312596
north african is not black

The problem isn't that it's a true story, it's that Hollywood picked it

Waterloo is a very accurate movie, but there is one really cringy scene with anti-war sentiment. Otherwise, the production and research was very well done.
