Here is where I'm trying to understand about Spain's culture, and if they had a pagan background, I know the original settlers were Iberian but what were their pagan background?

Not at all an expert nor am I well read on this. But here is what I know:
Basically, the Phoenicians and Greeks have been present in the coasts of the Iberian peninsula for a long time. When the Romans came they basically assimilated the local paganism like they did everywhere else.
And it probably wasn't that hard to assimilate since all European paganism/legends/mythology come from the same Indo-European root pantheon.

I'm pretty sure in Wikipedia you have a lot of info about iberian mythology.
