How do we prevent the upcoming collapse?
We don't. The death drive is entirely autonomous now.
>>3306227
Well, we solved the situation with ozone, at least.
by putting the economic sphere under democratic control.
communism
>>3306227
we can't, so we might as well strap in for the bumpy ride ahead
>>3306227
Expand into space.
>>3306227
>society starts accelerating across the board instead of cyclically progressing
>collapse is imminent because of this
there's a new structure in place
>>3306227
We don't. Overexpansion results in collapse, from which new things will come.
Get ready to roll with it.
>>3306282
It's a bit early to call it solved, call me when it gets back to mid-20th century levels at least.
>>3306401
You'll be dead, these things don't happen overnight.
Important thing is that we identified sources of damage, elimated it and now it's in an observable process of healing.
>>3306401
>call me
Post phone number.
>>3306227
Hope to god that Tyler Cowen's "low-hanging fruit" hypothesis is wrong.
>>3306227
There's this solution (perhaps the only one), but it's unpopular.
>muh precious human life
What collapse?
>>3306671
>yfw society has been sustainable for as long as it has because of annually recurring localised bouts of bubonic plague culling the population from 1350 to the mid 1600s.
My nigga im a post grad concentrating in theoretical life science, ive been posting this graph around for like a year hoping the sheeple would wake up. super jazzed its been posted.

ecological anarchism and Luddism. It wont be hard to gain economic control of the means of production as the global economy collapses. All that needs to be done is have a better way to live(agroecology, liberty and equality, the absence of private property, and so on.) , revolutionary syndicalism, and counter economics. Not that simple of course but its my best option. As my eccentric and wise homeless friend used to tell me, "Live off the scraps, smoke the trash." "do whatever you want just dont be a dick"
>>3306362
just anarchism, i like the idea of freed markets with preemptively managed externalities. Or whatever communism may have a place but not as the primary economic system
>>3306383
global capitalist consumer markets . We have replaced home with a synthetic ecology, and our systematically eating the hand that feeds us..
>>3306394
>from which new things will come.
dont be too sure about this degraded complexity(biodiversity loss, shifting baselines) results in the absence of resilience and adaptive capacity. New things dont just pop up, they emerge from synergy in complex systems, this needs stable parameters for this order to emerge(climate, biogeochemical process), at the scale of the earth, it works like this on all scales).
here is some basic stuff https://poseidon01.ssrn.com/delivery.php?ID=231116021119094068024095117098064121018062034043090044011067090076101003106089112104029123096099014032005007118007124012085107037012043042080121115121064095068106056062015124086096016088100001080101002116024070094004067009120080029072100124092102008&EXT=pdf

human life is precious, it is life's means to consciousness.
Life is about interpretation, we are at a point where life can interpret itself.
>>3306227
We don't, let it take place, afterwards the human population will either drop into sustainable levels or begin a slow and painful exodus to space.
>>3306320
>the cause is the solution
>>3306227
>What is Logarithmic scale?
stupid alarmist graphs
>>3306362
Thats a great idea, we'll trim the population down a bit and bring the collapse about faster and hopefully something cataclysmic will come from its collapse and reset us back to pre-19th century life
>>3306227
Ask whoever knew all these figures for 1750, they seem to know it all.
>>3306366
Oops. Whappen dere?
>>3308140
The graph isn't nearly as scary as being ecologically literate.
>>3306227
You can't. The car is on fire, and there's no driver at the wheel
>>3306671
>when viruses are getting so adept at resisting vaccines that all our medicine becomes useless against these superbugs
>>3309120
Jump out of the car and clean up the wreckage.
