How about not fucking dying. Seriously, that was the biggest issue. Had Alexander lived and properly set up administration of the empire, it wouldn't have been torn apart so quickly or at all.

Seriously, there's no way that without the greeks democracy would have never made it, yeah they had the concept early on but it would have developed on its own, Persians on the other hand had a lot more to offer the world

Take Darius' deal. Half the Persian Empire is a fucking sweet deal for three years of campaign. Sure you'd have to fight Persia again a few years later, but par for the course.

Alexander could have conquered the Mediterranean in the time Darius could muster another force of significance.
