If Lee was the general of the North from the start and didn't pick Virginia over them, would the war have been over quickly? Does he get along with Lincoln and has his backing? Does that mean Lee goes on to become the president instead of Grant? Does his term go as badly as Grants?
Just a series of what its with the whole scenario.
