Why doesn't anyone remember Salazar?
because he wasn't a white male

>Franco
>ASSpain
>White
>>3259239
Because nobody ever remembers Portugal.
Because he came from a small, irrelevant country, and because bringing up a modern, benevolent authoritarian would offend liberals
>>3259239
Because he was even more irrelevant than Franco.
>>3259241
>Iberians
>White
>>3259239
Because it was Portugal. Who cares?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

How benevolent was Salazar as a dictator of Portugal? I've read a little up about him and basically what I got from him was he governed Portugal as a right wing corporatist regime that wasn't really fascist and he was deeply against Hitler and Nazism and considered the Nazis "pagans", but I read that the Estado Novo was a pretty mild authoritarian regime in the sense that repression was considered not as brutal as with other autocratic regimes in Europe. For instance dissidents were thrown in jail but they were released several months later instead being executed or held in jail for several years.
Is this all true?
