Could the spanish have done it without the help of Tlaxcala?
>>3258372
Nah they would have gotten slaughtered, or at the very least starved to death
>>3258372
Not without a lot of reinforcements.

Not only Cortes:
"During the siege of Cuzco, Francisco Pizarro had 200 Spaniards and 30,000 native Huancas, Cañaris and Chachapoyas."

Yep. Actually the spanish allied with them until they got their reinforcements from Spain, and started to use their army.
"Cortés put Alvarado in command of 30 horsemen, 18 arbalesters and arquebusiers, 150 Spanish foot soldiers, and 8,000 Tlaxcalan allies, and sent him, accompanied by his brother Jorge de Alvarado, Gutierrez de Badajoz, and Andrés de Monjaraz, to secure Tacuba."
Wow, why do they teach in school that only a couple hundred spanish conquered all?

I don't have the book with me, but in the beginning stages of the siege of Tenochitlan they mostly used the natives to repair the causeways and shit. They actually deserted them and for a while it was just the conquistadors holding off the mexica. The conquistadors held their own.
>>3258372
Yes. Just later. Maybe on the fourth expedition after their diseases caused enough destruction
