>>
Why am I so interested in looking at men's faces(more that women's) I'm not remotely attracted to them sexually though, strange
>>
>>3257712
because we actually have features, bitches are all perfectly rounded-out, have no chins or jawlines, its just a smooth surface from cheek to neck, like a fat guy only not necessarily fat. Then they cover up whatever unique features they actually do have with makeup so theres nothing left.

The paintings definitely show a "perfect" version of the person it depicts, but it's still depicting a real person.
>>
>>3258102
yes, its inaccurately depicting a real person, just like a simpsons cameo "depicts" a celebrity. Whats your point exactly?
>>
Nicky was the cutest.
>>
>>3258191
They're probably not more inaccurate than modern heavily edited celebrity pictures.
>>
>>3258226
Except that theyre cartoons...

I ask again, whats your point?
>>
>>3257529
Looks like Reviewbrah.
>>
>>3258191
what exactly is YOUR point? you've made half a dozen posts attacking idealized portraits. do you actually think anyone here believes the paintings are completely true to reality? you're arguing against a strawman.
>>
>>3254858
>>3254991
He was sickly yellow as if constantly sick, with blemished skin and bowed head and murder eyes with the whites of his eyes visible under his pupils, and smelled like shit.. In short, he wasn't.
>>
>>3258257
They're cartoons trying to be realistic, not going out of their way to look different. This is how people tried to capture important people and events before photography.
>>
>>3258340
the simpsons in no way has ever intended to accurately depict celebrities. They even have that disclaimer. They definitely do go out of their way to make them look different, theyre cartoons for fuck's sake.

Artists did not always idealize the person they were drawing, embellishment is not a necessary aspect of a portrait. Some people made photorealistic portraits, others made propaganda like that napoleon one. There is a difference.

Another difference is the difference between an actual portrait involving a person being drawn for 6 hours, and some guy just making a propaganda painting about an event that already happened. The OP features the latter.
>>
>>3258356
>the simpsons in no way has ever intended to accurately depict celebrities

I was talking about the paintings in this thread.

Also. Here's a contemporary and less idealized depiction of Napoleon. Not very different from the OP.
>>

that is an extremely idealized painting, and also not a portrait. He's depicted with perfect facial structure and is literally holding a flag in a battle. That is like the definition of romanticism.

Tuyen shouldered 95 kilograms of anti-aircraft artillery shells (more than double her body weight) that she ferried to soldiers in trucks heading south. When a Western journalist later questioned her feat, she recalled how she proved him wrong. "He didn't believe that such a small person like me could shoulder such a heavy burden," she said. "I persuaded him by picking up a sack of potatoes and a sack of rice that together had a total weight of 105kg."
>>
>>3254858
He was ugly. Josephine used to make fun of him with her roastie friends until he became famous. Even then she cheated on him. Nappy was a "id take a bullet for you"-type beta.
>>
>>3259280
What do you think her arms were like under those clothes?
>>
>>3259295
It was probably more her back and thighs, plus low center of gravity.

We had little guys in our platoon when I was in the army that could hump heavy shit all day.
>>
>>3255048
It's the confidence.
>>
>>3259288
This is true. But then after he found out about Josephine's affair (which everyone besides Napoleon was aware of) he took one of his officer's wives as a mistress, then returned to France and made Josephine beg for his forgiveness. Then she apparently fell in love with him and took no more lovers, while he took numerous mistresses. They had a surprisingly healthy relationship, all things considered, and they remained close friends after Napoleon remarried.
>>
>>3259207
His facial features are consistent. What might be touched up is his skin, how clean or pristine other things.

Also a painting can be romantic without having the people in it idealized.

youre so fucking retarded I cant believe youre actually still shitting out nonresponses hours later just to get the last word. You are an utterly retarded, proud, hopeless cunt that cant admit the two romanticized pictures he posted are in fact extremel6 innaccurate, idealized, romanticized, and whatever fucking word you want to use to describe the concept of making a man look larger than life in a painting, that is not what napoleon looked like, those are obviously idealized facial features that would be home on a roman statue. Just shut the fuck up and sit down nobody should have to rrad one more retarded shitfling from you, we've had enough of it this thread already
>>
