It's kinda sad to see the Paradox not even try to pretend they're offering content for their DLCs and for normies to get ahold of EUIV so much

I mean I'm glad more people enjoy the game, but the attitudes of all the new players is just... unpleasant and bland.
>>
>>3235787
I'm hoping this game turns out alright:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu6gjKMhT3Y

Takes place in Bohemia during the 1400's. It's not as focused on big battles, like Mount & Blade is, but the combat and setting are supposed to be very faithful to the era. Some of the music was also taken directly from medieval Czech manuscripts.

Empire Earth is RTS
>>
>>3235866
Strategy is strategy, does "grand" really have anything to do with it?
>>
>>3235888
Yes. Grand Strategy and RTS function differently. It's like saying there's no difference between RPG and JRPG. OP said "no grand strategy" that means RTS such as Empire Earth and Age of Empires are exempt from this. If it were "no strategy games" then there would be a reason to complain, the idea that EE doesn't fit OP's criteria is absurd.

Verdun sucks. I hate everyone that says Verdun is good. It'd be a bit better if it had 50vs50 or something, but it doesn't. I'm also pissed that the developers upped the player count for the retarded paid v2.0 for the Eastern front.

I even asked the developers about that a while ago and they basically said the people were too stupid to have a higher unit count in the game as it was. Now they're having you pay for it.

RO2 also sucks. Play Darkest Hour instead. It's about to get a pretty massive upgrade.

King of Dragon Pass is a tribe simulator game where you lead a pseudo-Celtic tribe in it's attempt to dominate the other tribes and become King of the region. Although it's set in a fantasy world, the Orlanthi culture your tribe belongs to is closely modeled on the pre-Roman era Celts, and the gameplay itself is very emergent and varied.

I don't know if they changed this in the more modern TW games, but I hate how in Rome and most other grand strategies you only seem to have the option to either completely annex a province or not.

Like, there's the city that is the capital of the province, and having your army inside the province does fuck all unless you are besieging it. Can't destroy buildings, or attack villages, or do anything to force the enemy out of the fortress other than laying siege.

It's not the same. WW2 battles happened on really large fronts filled with infantry in no formation. You can realistically have battles with only 64 people and still have them feel fairly realistic, because such small engagements did happen.

By civil war standards, 64 is too small even for a minor skirmish.

The Guild II, conceptually interesting while almost unplayable and a major disappointment

I would like to see an economic, strategy, and city-building sim based off of the early colonial period. Managing a colonial charter company and settling the East Coast of North America, dealing with individual towns, Indians tribes, shipping, and seeing things grow and develop over time
>>
>>3244226
What makes it so unplayable?
>>
>>3244226
Try Sid Meier's Colonization. Or one of the Anno games set on that period.

Also what makes The Guild 2 unplayable? I've had the first 2 on Steam for a while but I haven't played them yet. First one is a bit annoying on modern computers.
>>
>>3244230
Not necessarily unplayable, I used the wrong word. It's just that no feature quite seems to work out well. It's a decade old, so it can't quite be blamed. When it first came out I really liked the visuals
>The 24-hour clock/month thing is kind of odd

>everything is very structured, doesn't feel like an open world. Just a sequence of mini-games strung together
>being a thief or pirate is basically like being any other business. Same with a church

yeah, it's kind of funny, very little publicity. I'll wait a bit for some reviews and video demonstrations before getting it, if I ever do.

I guess the way to put is that the Guild II was one of those games that you can immediately see the underlying game structure rather than just simply desiring to get ahead and see more of the world, and it just becomes repetitive from the get-go

>taking the oldest extrapolated figure from caves in Europe (disputed btw) and using them to determine when Egyptians will domesticate the dog

This is why brainlets shouldn't study genetics, you get full retard ideas like this one. The Egyptians domesticated the canine late, and Egyptian dogs descend from Central Asian genetic stock which aren't documented in the archaeological record until 7,425BP... about 5433BC. The game starts in 5000BC, unlike what you stated, giving about four hundred years for the dog to reach Egypt.

>The indigenous dog populations of Vietnam, India, and Egypt show minimal evidence of European admixture, and exhibit indicators consistent with a Central Asian domestication origin, followed by a population expansion in East Asia. The study could not rule out the possibility that dogs were domesticated elsewhere and subsequently arrived in and diversified from Central Asia. Studies of extant dogs cannot exclude the possibility of earlier domestication events that subsequently died out or were overwhelmed by more modern populations.[14]

So no, you're wrong, shut the fuck up.

Fun game - definitely worth it on sale.

Probably the best RPG of the last few years - very unique vision that the developers really stuck to.

I think the required grinding at the beginning in the city streets/thugs bores a lot of people out. Also the combat aged somewhat poorly. Shame because the game has so much charm.

Even thought the combat gets stale in many of the early Assasins creed games, I still enjoy the atmosphere the 1st game creates in the holy land. In particular the marketplace encounters are cool and AC 2 does much of the first one did but with more depth (this time in Italy). Worth checking out if you haven't played the series yet.

if you fuck with the ducks too much the other beastman get salty and threaten you to never attack them again otherwise they will destroy you, and they do if you attack the ducks again

also playing a war focused tribe is incredibly hard, easy path to power to be happy merchants making alliances

wish i could actually destroy tribes desu
