If they'd have tried anything, the Colonial War would've started earlier, the African colonies would've been able to revolt much easier. Maybe if they convinced Pakistan to try something in Kashmir at the same time, and trying to convince China to try for Arunachal Pradesh (although this would be unlikely considering Portugal was under the Estado Novo and China was under the CCP, with Portugal also possessing Macau). It would've been extremely difficult, and utterly pointless.

Portugal could have had a chance if it were not for the colonial war, and with a lot of luck by playing the geo polítical field (China was at the time hostile to Índia, namely in the tibet, would be hard tough, cause they are commies) trough UN and local polítics, but not in a fight like that
