Its not an attack if you don't invade North Vietnam in full force and rape it to death. The US was defending South Vietnam and trying to contain Communism + show the US was willing to fight it wherever it appeared (Which it did with the Treaty of Paris. Then it back stabbed South Vietnam by not defending it after North Vietnam broke the Treaty and claimed victory over the war.)

Honestly it was more of a war of nationalism with the French leaving the US holding the bag. The US semi-backed the wrong side of the conflict (Wanting, Vietnam independence under its sphere of influence rather than the Soviet or Chinese) and played a game of shaky table on the conflict's affair with the people back at home.

They were trying to contain the spread of communism in SEA. And it worked! Thailand didn't turn communist (the rest of SEA did though).

>commie nations
Also Thailand, was a bastion against communism. The likeliness of them switching to communism is very unlikely due to them not being colonialized and reverence to their king
Also i believe h* ch* m*nh try to court American anti imperialist sentinment first

Absolutly, false, piece of shit
France asked the US for help, but the US refused exactly because they didnt like European colonialims (and they didnt like France as well)

So they just sat there and watched the French lose, and then, a year after the French had lost and left, the US arrived and started their own unrelated anti-commie crusade there

Pic related, dates tell everything
