When you've studied history of warfare, you know that generally, the winning nation accepts the conditional surrender of losing ones, and things stop there (reparations and stuff are given but that's it), especially when the grounds for war is petty shit like few soldiers dying in a base attack (no genocide, no US civilians massacred)
But nope, America defied all logics and refused Japan's conditional surrender, reverting to literally nuking two cities so the entire country could be submitted to them for ever
