Did anyone win space race?
>>3219661
Yes. The Soviet Union
>>3219661
It's an ongoing race where the only winner is humanity so it remains to be seen
>>3219672
The Space Race BEGAN with Sputnik.
>>3219672
Sovjets clearly won, beat Americans to everything except the moon (altho no-one really knows if the Americans actually went to the moon the first time). The fact that the Russians are in charge of the life support system and other vital parts of the ISS while the Americans are in charge of stuff like the toilet even to this day tells you a lot.
>>3219685
And they had first man in space and first man in orbit. America set an arbitrary end, stopped, calld the win and joined the Russians in more important aspects of space faring technology, orbiting and docking.
>>3219661
Yes, of course. We put men on the moon and brought them back safely. When we told the Soviets we would build a system to shoot down their nukes, they believed us.
Because we put men on the moon and brought them back, safely.
>>3219661
Who has a flag on the moon, again?
>>3220138
>all the space is the moon
Try again, burger.
>>3220112
>reaching the moon
>arbitrary end
hurr durr
>>3220086
I assume the reason was that the US wanted to go back to expanding their military budget as soon as possible.
>>3219661
The Quarlaxians, it was they who reached the edge of the universe first.
>>3219968

In the midsst of the cold war the US had a well timed victory with the moon landing. However, retrospectively the USSR had way more firsts in space and did a lot more to advance space exploration in terms of travel and station building. In the end humanity won and although there was rivalry, the astronaut/cosmonaut bond of being the few who get to leave earth brought the two powers closer together rather than further apart.
Also despite how used to saying astronaut I am, cosmonaut just makes more sense right. We are exploring the cosmos not the stars right? But its now to ideologically charge so the titles will stay.
>>3219661
Yes, king Pakal of Palenque did
>>3220346
Russians reached the moon first with robots
And the first planet (Venus) too.
America won the propaganda race not the space one.
The viewers at home
>>3220112
>arbitrary end
well lets see, we got further along and then their shitty government collapsed, end it at any point you like it doesn't change reality.
>>3219661
Elon Musk won
>>3219968
nice thumbnail Cletus
Everyone has lost because we still have no extraterrestrial colony.
Humanity has won because we'll eventually get there, because of the foundations set by the space race.
>>3222207
This, Both sides finished the race without reaching the most important objective.
In any case, the matter of who was ahead of whom, is another matter.
