I'm just saying imagine if it had been a US-style revolt, and they didn't burn everything of the 'pre-revolution' world left and right. If they had saved the awesomeness of Russia instead of killing it too.

End the tsars, but put a republic or something in instead. Keep the old world charm and beauty, keep the mysterious wonderland, leave the terror-empire part.

I imagine it's kind of hard to keep building gold-plated palaces and all the shit that was essentially reserved for the nobility in a country that was struggling to build enough housing and then entered most destructive war in history of everything on top of it, but Stalin kinda tried post-war IIRC. The big problem is they did a heavier version of the anti-intelligence movement rising in the US does, not a justified rejection of the "rule by intellectuals" idea but rather an outright hatred for wealth, culture, and the upper crusts of society.

Stalin killed literally entire original bolshevik movement and did away with their retarded "everything should look shitty and depressing" template and build -comparatively very palatable - "Socialist Classicism" stuff, which only lasted until his death, when Khrushchev went fullretard and baned it in favor of more commieblocks and other nonsensical brutalist shit.
