I count Lawrence of Arabia as one of the greatest war movies ever made, second only to The Longest Day.

For some reason, this was the moment that really hit home for me. After hours of watching combat, thirst, deprivation, and desert, it was when Lawrence returned and tried to be British again ("Jolly good about the squash court") that I realized all he'd been through.
