Agricola was planning on subjugating it with like one legion before he was removed.
Agricola considered mounting a military expedition to Ireland and even had an exiled Irish chieftain in his custody for use as a pretext to invade. Uprisings in Scotland postponed his plans and by the time he finished dealing with them his term was up and he was recalled to Rome to deal with the Germans. Or maybe he just feared the Hibernian warrior.

I wouldn't say "nothing". There were and still are extensive copper deposits in Ireland along with gold, zinc, and lead (to this day, Ireland produces one quarter of all the lead mined in W. Europe).
The real problem is shipping. From the Mediterranean, you can sail up the Rhône through Saône up to Moselle and into the Rhine itself supplying all the legions on the border with Germania and Britannia itself.
This entire system doesn't work if you include Hibernia. They can't supply their forts. They can't feed the legions stationed there. Without trade goods, they can't even endear themselves to the local natives enough to not get stomped.

They feared the green warrior
The Romans were in Ireland, Roman trading outposts and artifacts were found a few years back. But they had trouble enough holding onto Britain, they didn't have the resources to hold onto Ireland too.

Is this also why Ireland has always been relatively isolated, even in different eras?
