Zionist propaganda. Venezuela is under siege by outside reactionary forces. You can't expect a country to function if they are being squeezed by a large powerful country. Socialism hasn't failed in Venezuela, its American bullshit propaganda that the neoliberals like to bring up in order to show the alleged "failings of socialism". Its fake news bullshit.

You know there's an active clandestine goods smuggling ring trafficking goods to Colombia. Smugglers with connections to supermarkets traffic the goods to be resold in Colombia at a higher price. Venezuelans actually have to travel across the border to buy back their own products at a higher price. Employees of the state may operate in cahoots with the smugglers also but in in end it's a problem of organized crime and not government planning. But investing in the military is the most conventional way of growing a strong and independent state.

It wasn't some magical Jewish overthrow or the machinations of the American government that killed Venezuela, it was the Venezuelan government (and, as it pains me to say, the Venezuelans who elected it)

As countless op-eds in Forbes and elsewhere warned in the 2000s when Venezuela nationalized its ENTIRE oil industry (which, mind you, is 93% of the country's exports which means without oil Venezuela might as well be Zimbabwe), nationalizing a company doesn't work if you don't know how to run it. The most flagrantly stupid moves made by the government when it nationalized PDVSA were firing and hiring hordes of personnel (in fact much more than a cautious enterprise would have) and not sparing capital for potential fluctuations in the oil market, as just about every responsible oil exporter with a nationalized industry does.

This all worked out well while the barrel was up and the money could be allocated in huge amounts to pet projects to give basic healthcare and literacy to people, which is a worthy enterprise and all, alongside just as mindless spending on corruption and nepotism, not just at home but with other countries that took millions of Venezuela's oil moneys (including, but not limited to, Krischner's Argentina, Castro's Cuba and Lula's Brazil) but as soon as the oil price flinched (and by God it flinched) the whole thing fell to the ground like a house of cards. It didn't help that this very same company was in charge of all the imports, since Venezuela's own agricultural output was always shit (strong oil country who don't need no farm). It also didn't help that, despite being a huge energy exporter, its power grid was dependent on a hydroelectric power plant and when that failed because--who would've guessed--climate isn't constant the country's electricity went to shit and all of that coincided with a BUS DRIVER for a president surrounded by an absurdly corrupt elite. None of this was chosen by anyone other than Venezuelans.
>>
>>3172123
That will probably happen but there probably won't be any significant changes since the country is pretty much Pakistan tier as a failed state with all the narco control.
>>
>>3172145
That is unbelievably stupid.
>>
>>3172095
Maduro, Chavez and Diosdado cabello have been stealing the public revenues for years, they use the state in their favor and given just mere bread crumbs to all the population. Only leftytards like you dare to defend those corrupted bunch.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_presidency_of_Carlos_Andrés_Pérez

>Drastic increases in petroleum prices led to an economic bonanza for the country just as Pérez started his term. His policies, including the nationalization of the iron and petroleum industries, investment in large state-owned industrial projects for the production of aluminium and hydroelectric energy, infrastructure improvements, and the funding of social welfare and scholarship programs, were extremely ambitious and involved massive government spending, to the tune of almost $53 billion.

>Congress gave Pérez a mandate to rule by decree for 100 days - and then for a further 100 days. He also had a fiscal fortune in his hands such as no Venezuelan president ever had. And Pérez didn’t lose time to start spending it. He commissioned a report on government, which was prepared and carried out by Arnoldo Gabaldón. It contained a blueprint for further large scale bureaucratic expansion. Gabaldón himself was named to a super-ministry, which combined public works and communications.[2] Since it was impossible to hire every Venezuelan, Pérez decreed that all public places should have bathroom attendants and that every elevator the country over should have an operator, although Venezuela had only had one or two hand-operated elevators before the Pérez Jiménez building euphoria.

>On any given day, one could see dozens of ships queuing to unload in all Venezuelan ports, which meant that demurrage charges were huge and were obviously passed on to consumers. But consumerism was the whole point of it all. The bolivar, Venezuela's currency, was so over-valued that almost anybody in Venezuela with a minimum of initiative could go to Miami and bring a suitcase-load of goods which were sold to customers, usually friends or neighbors. Even servant quarters were in the net of this informal import economy. In Miami, Venezuelans became known as "gimme two" (of anything, at any price).

I hope AMLO wins in Mexico, Kirchner wins in Argentina, Lula wins in Brazil, whoever the Farc runs with wins in Colombia etc

And that they all fail as hard as Maduro. This is exactly what Latin America deserves. We deserve to see the entire world developing, improving, while we remain always poor and violent because of our attachment to failed ideologies imported from Europe during the Cold War.
>>
>>3172179
Zionist propaganda. Venezuela was a neoliberal shithole before Chavez became president. Now thanks to Chavez and thanks to the United Socialist Party, poverty has been reduced, healthcare is free and the Venezuelan people have become masters of their own destiny. Obvious you won't have a good economy if the U.S. and the west continues their economic war on Venezuela.
>>
>>3172159
Yeah and the previous administrations and current opposition groups are much better handing all the revenue to their transnational corporate masters whose ass they rim. And the same people involved in the smuggling are likely to be the same ones found pleading for economic freedom and lifting of restrictions imposed by the cruel totalitarian communist state. Only righttards like you believe any place would be better with a bunch of neoliberal cronies.

Did you know why this people are smuggling? because the bolivar worth a shit and there is a large inflation. This is why opportunists appear. because venezuelan economy is death. Also the goverment are arming groups to "defend the sovereignty" they sell the guns to the gangs and crimminals to get money to eat, cool does'nt it.

It was a shithole, but it's a much bigger shithole now.

>poverty has been reduced
The only thing that's been reduced as of now since the start of the PSUV has been the BMI of Venezuelans

>healthcare is free
And yet people die because there's no medications for cancer or for any of the various infectious diseases that are surfacing in crumbling country

>the Venezuelan people have become masters of their own destiny
There's a few tens of thousands of people on the street right now, the same who elected a legislative majority that has been striped of government illegitimately who disagree with you

>Obvious you won't have a good economy if the U.S. and the west continues their economic war on Venezuela.
What economic war? The sanctions that were announced today? I'm a Venezuelan and I live a few miles from the CITGO headquarters (these are the people selling Venezuelan oil for the government), they look pretty well off to me.

>>3172202
>the previous administrations and current opposition groups are much better handing...
To reiterate, they were and probably still are corrupt assholes, but the country sure wasn't as bad as it is today. Seems in the long run the corrupt nepotists from the right might have been better. Does this mean that the left as a whole functions in some wrong premise and that any social democratic government will meet the fate of Chavez's and Maduros's Venezuela? Probably not, but defending their policies makes it sound like an implicit admission that they will.

Bullshit. That's all Zionist propaganda. Venezuela maybe going through some trouble times right now but its not a shithole. At least socialism in Venezuela has produced order. At least its not Somalia, a lolbertarian shithole.
>>
>>3172271
The funniest thing is when they appeal to "muh patria", "muh nationalism", "muh sovereignty", "fuera gringos".

Everyone knows that the Venezuelan government is in cahoots with Cuban intelligence services, international drug dealers, Iran and Hezbollah. They have no moral to talk about foreign intervention.
>>
>>3172254
Yeah sure what ever. I'm sure aggressive international efforts to destabilize it for it's oil like every other place that's destabilized recently is the cause. And probably why northern Europe and the Rhine are in such turmoil right now.
>>
>>3172247
Yes shut up comrade, resist, you only are a good communist when you die by famine for your country.
>>
>>3172193
So what do you propose more neoliberal US-puppets?
>>
>>3172282
>Bullshit. That's all Zionist propaganda
That's neither a credible refutation nor an argument. It's also all corroborated by people inside the country.

>Venezuela maybe going through some trouble times right now but its not a shithole
It's probably the biggest shithole this size of the hemisphere at the moment

>At least socialism in Venezuela has produced order. At least its not Somalia, a lolbertarian shithole.
Why do you assume I'm a libertarian because I don't jump on the cognitively dissonant train of defending Chavez?
As far as that order does, crime actually rose in big cities during the government of Chavez and the current "order" is held in place by mobs and police repression. I don't want a libertarian government, but a functional one would be a good start.
>>
>>3172321
It is a functional government in Venezuela you brainwashed Zionist shill. Crime is always part of a struggling country, you're more likely to get shot in America or get killed by gangsters in America than in Venezuela. I'm not saying its perfect but its hell of a lot better than Americant or other neoliberal shitholes. Its not a shithole, people are doing fine in Venezuela.
>>
>>3172306

Also nothing similar to a refutation here. I also bet you've never been in Venezuela. But users here who have lived there for decades (myself included) know otherwise.

>Crime is always part of a struggling country,
And yet it has become ridiculously more exacerbated during the time of Chavez.

>you're more likely to get shot in America or get killed by gangsters in America than in Venezuela
This is not remotely true, it sounds like you're the brainwashed one here.

> Its not a shithole, people are doing fine in Venezuela.
Not even the supporters of the current regime think that people are doing fine, they simply explain it away with vague allegations of economic warfare and conspiracy. It seems you know better than Venezuelans themselves about the state of Venezuelans
