If I remember my history right, Jefferson replaced the property line with "pursuit of happiness" in the declaration of independence?
Born during the 30 years war and he was 10 when the English Civil War started. Sounds pretty awful.

His exposition of primary and secondary qualities. Arguably he was not the first to posit it but his account is the most influential and, I think, still a largely accurate account that identifies the austerity of the non-phenomenal, scientific lexicon.
