Animals are simply engaged in the process of sense gratification and the four bodily processes of eating, sleeping, sex, and defense. Humans similarly engage in these processes but humans alone possess enough intelligence to understand what is the purpose of life. Human life is meant becoming inquisitive and for realizing that I am not this body, I am the spiritual soul that inhabits it. Realizing such and taking shelter under God, he escapes the cycle of birth and death and attains the kingdom of God. If he does not become inquisitive and he does not control the mind, he's not even a human being but among ranks of the cats and dogs.
