What was Britain doing in the war until 21. June 1941?
What were they trying to achieve?
Let's say, Hitler wouldn't have attacked the Soviers on 22. June 1941- how long would these two enemy camps had stared at each other across the channel before peace talks?
Again, what were the Brits trying to achieve on their own?

Churchill says it in his speech Anon, Fight the Nazis in whatever way possible until the Americans arrive to save them.

> What were they trying to achieve?
They were trying to drag the US into the war.
1. Appealing to the US for material (and eventually military) support.
2. Preventing Britain from being isolated or invaded by Germany.
3. Fighting for control of North Africa and the Middle East.

>What was Britain doing in the war until 21. June 1941?
Fending off the battle of Britain assaults, launching their own aerial attacks, fighting in North Africa.
>What were they trying to achieve?
The defeat of Nazi Germany.

Hard to say. The Germans don't really pose any existentail threat to the Brits, and they can keep the war economy going a hell of a lot longer than the Germans can. Furthermore, America is likely to join the war at some point. If the U.S. is in, Britain is unlikely to ever to accept a peace. Even if they aren't, it's hard to see how a government as contemtuous of its own agreements as Hitler's can be trusted enough for Britain to accept a peace settlement.

>What was Britain doing in the war until 21. June 1941?
Defending Britain from the Blitz.
Fighting in Greece, North Africa, Malta, the Atlantic Ocean etc.
>What were they trying to achieve?
Holding out until the U.S could be convinced to join. Churchill was half-American and believed that the only way Britain could survive was to appeal to the U.S for support.
>how long would these two enemy camps had stared at each other across the channel before peace talks?
There would never have been peace. I don't think you understand the British 1940 mindset very well.
>Again, what were the Brits trying to achieve on their own?
The liberation of the continent from a single power and to restore the status quo. Also, to try to maintain the empire.
