I'll give you an example the Cathedral of Our Lady in Antwerp started construction 1352 and was considered finished at 1521, but was already functional during the 1400, the reason for the slow construction was a sudden lack of budget in wich the construction of the towers was halted. The city of Antwerp later funded the construction of the one tower as a bellfort.

That's just crazy: started as a Catholic Cathedral in Koln, a city in Westphalia, itself a part of the Holy Roman Empire, was under construction throughout Cologne gaining independence as an imperial free city, saw itself be conquered by Prussia and was eventually completed in a united Germany as a Protestant cathedral.

>>
>>3164003
Everything about what you said is wrong.

It wasn't under construction throughout anything, construction was stopped and it was just left as a construction site for centuries, until the late 19th century. And it's obviously Catholic like it has always been, seeing as Cologne is a Catholic city.
>>
>>3164002
Most of the cathedrals posted here are mainly impressive because of their large towers. But those towers

a) are not really that big actually and are just photographed to make them look bigger than they are
b) or are indeed big but those were added in the 19th century because medieval europeans were not able to build towers like these.

Although the spire is the cathedral's most impressive feature, it has proved to be troublesome. Together with the tower, it added 6,397 tons (6,500 tonnes) to the weight of the building. Without the addition of buttresses, bracing arches and anchor irons over the succeeding centuries, it would have suffered the fate of spires on other great ecclesiastical buildings (such as Malmesbury Abbey 1180 to ~1500, Lincoln Cathedral 1311 to 1549 and Chichester Cathedral 1402 to 1861) and fallen down; instead, Salisbury became the tallest church spire in the UK on Lincoln's collapse. The large supporting pillars at the corners of the spire are seen to bend inwards under the stress. The addition of reinforcing tie beams above the crossing, designed by Christopher Wren in 1668, arrested further deformation.[9] The beams were hidden by a false ceiling, installed below the lantern stage of the tower.

It was. Before the trou des halles I mean.

The Halles Baltard were a unique example of metallic architecture, and keeping at least part of them would have made for a better ensemble than anything which came afterwards. The Halle of El Born in Barcelona was going to be destroyed too, and was inspired by the Halles Baltard to begin with, but they luckily decided not to, and their plaça is now one of the nicest in Barcelona. While the Halles in Paris just keep getting uglier with every iteration.
>>
>>3164061
Of course, it's still the largest church in Paris despite the tourists, and the seat of the archidiocese. 5 masses a day during the week, 7 on Sunday, a night of eucharistic adoration every Thursday, and you can even go venerate the Crown of Thorns ever first Friday of the month and during Lent. Some of them are broadcasted live on TV. Though it's not a parish anymore, so you can't get married or have your children baptized there. A lot of people prefer to go to their local parish, though, because the tourists walking around can make it difficult to really concentrate. Kinda feel like you're being an attraction for Chinese tourists while praying.

I'll be completely honest with you guys, as beautiful and masterly built these Cathedrals are, all across Europe, not just France, it all starts to look the same after a while. Depictions of the apostles and the crucifixion and the Madonna, etc. Sure they all had their unique styles and differences, but the culture was essentially the same across Europe in terms of it's themes.

As to the OP of the thread, it's important to consider that the Inca and the American continent in general had a much lower population density; it makes sense that civilization would advance more slowly on the continent than it did in the Old World. You can even see this throughout the American continent itself, where higher population densities forced the development of relatively advanced civilizations, city-states, and ultimately empires, while the comparatively sparse North American continent was still basically in the Neolithic when Euros arrived.

Progress happens and the accumulation of population is obviously change the circumstancial relations between tribes and cultures.

Agriculture, metal working, trading, civic organization, economy, conquest, etc...
All of them get morphed over time due to such circumstances as population density, coastal interactions, need of better weapons, adaptation against the environment.

So you admit you had no chance of matching European architecture? It's nice to see you admitting your inferiority. After all, if one admits they were disadvantaged in certain aspects compared to others, to claim superiority is to be making a purely hypothetical argument depending upon a universe where one is not so disadvantaged, also known as a fantasy. And nobody would be that autistic outside of the average afrocentric, right?

It has many of the same things because it came from the same God. After Christianity was changed God sent Islam down. Christianity says God rested on the 7th day, if God is almighty he doesn't rest. In the Quran God did not rest.
Also, the Quran has scientific miracles like, the earth is 1/3 the age of the universe.

[Quran 7.54] And your Lord, Allah, who created the Heavens and the Earth in six days and then settled on the Throne...

[Quran 41.9] Say: "Is it that you deny Him [Allah] who created the Earth in two days? And you claim others to be equal to Him? He is the Lord of (all) the Worlds."

[Quran 50.38] And we have created the Heavens and Earth and EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN in six days and We were not touched by fatigue.

The earth is 4.6 b yrs old, the universe is 13.8 b yrs old. Exactly 1/3 the age of the universe, and the Quran said this 1400 years ago.
There are more miracles in the Quran like it knew the wingless ants are female:

[Quran 27.18] Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said (for females), "O ants, enter your homes so that you do not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they do not feel it."

This shows that the ants could not fly away, which means they are female. This scientific fact was discovered centuries later.
There are only two possibilites, either Muhammad was a super genius scientist or the Quran came from Allah. I choose the latter.
Of course there are more miracles these are just some at the top of my head.

Because if something is forbidden, it's a sin to do that. If it's not forbidden, you aren't sinning by doing it.

The only thing forbidden about alcohol is having no restraint in drinking alcohol.

The Incas were a nation based on ethnic groups of the Andes. The eurangutan pestilence caused the civil war and killed 90% of amerindians. Also the traitor and spanish killed the priviledged and elite families and individuals. The andean ethnic group has suffered such events. Yet the Inca development rate and civilization has demonstrated their superiority.

Europeans had a chance to demonstrate their value developing themselves for all the paleolithic, neolithic and early bronze age. Unfortunately, even though they had more advantages and northafrican/anatolian cultures to trade with, the result was basically pathetic.

Incas were superior to europeans. History demonstrates it.

If this eurangutan critter wants to know a modern comparison of s.XXI eurangutans, I'm pretty interested in your proposition. "Celts" is a all englobing term for people speaking the celtic language, starting probably with the Urnfield culture, though some scholars now point to an Iberian origin to the proto-celtic language and cultural traits.

In any case the Britons (for example) were only "celts" if we consider the language they used and to a lesser extent their culture, most of the people living on the islands had been there before the spread of the rites affilitated to the Urnfield and later La Tène culture. They were as genetically "celtic" as the French are "Frankish" (and even that may be a stretch).

The genetic and cultural frontier between the "celtic" people has always been blurry, but the one thing defining them was their tongue, not their ethnicity.

Which brings us to:
>that developed relatively isolated

Let's take the La Tène culture, which is more closely associated to "celts". If you consider that culture were isolated, then "isolated" in your book means tribes spreading over an entire subcontinent and migrating all around the place. Not exactly fits the dictionnary definition of isolation.

The isolation part was refering to the fact that Amerindians were completely isolated to cultures with a difference of development of thousands of years; an example cultures with different beginnings(date) would be Olmecs and Greeks, or Assyrians and Romans.

IIRC iberian celts had relations with similar cultures in terms of advancement except the coastal ones which traded with a lot of mediterranean cultures.

Well that's more the fault of tribal culture than isolation. The advancements were different (eg metallurgy vs engineering) and the celts lagged behind in some respects not for lack of trading and exchange with their neighbours.

Did they develop themselves iron-metalworking? It's interesting that Romans had to learn from them.
>>
>>3170000
IIRC iron metalworking spread from the east. I don't know if the Halstatt culture developped it independently. However, they sure were renowed smithies and developed chainmail, the spatha, and in some regards the proto Gladius if you affiliate the Celtiberians to the rest of Celtic culture group.
>>
>>3170023
Iron working spread from Cypriots who gave it to Sardinians who gave it to Italics and Etruscans who gave it to Celts
>>
>>3170030
Weren't anatolian cultures the first to manipulate iron?
>>
>>3170060
yes Anatolia and the Near East were the first, and they gave it to Cypriots who were right next to those places

show me what they looked like on the date of their completion, not what they looked like after centuries of renovation, and then we can fairly compare
