How would a Japanese invasion of Ceylon in 1942/43 have gone?
Land based fighters would be difficult for Japanese carriers to contend with, they would then have to make a landing in a heavily defended area where their enemy has good logistics. It would be a very inefficient use of scarce war resources.
Doing it would've strung up their forces elsewhere

Considering what a mess their invasion of Wake Island was, which was about 1/100th the size and 1/1000th as well defended, I'm guessing it will go badly.

Terribly badly, Ceylon is extremely mountainous and had a sizeable garrison.
