Did Danube Bulgars ever interact with the Volga Bulgars? What were the differences and similarities between the two states and which was more bad ass?
>Bulgars
>bad ass
Literally the most backward retarded nation in the whole recorded history of the world. They steal other people's identifies and try to make themselves cool. Just a bunch of Tatar horseniggers.

Nope they both settled in their respected lands migrating from around here, around here being Ukraine mind you. Seeing their common ancestry, as their initial rulers were either brothers or cousins I was wondering if they had any diplomatic interaction in the later centuries.

Hard to say but Danube Bulgaria repelled an Arab invasion in 717–718 and had military power that rivaled the Byzantines and Western powers. Volga Bulgaria dominated the Volga and Ural region for centuries.

Yes, they were the same country before the Khazars conquered the land between them, separating them.
Thats why bulgarian historians call this "pre-bulgarians" or "proto-bulgarians", and just call the Danube bulgars after separation "bulgarian", and the others become "tatars".

Volga Bulgaria caused the first military defeat of the infamous mongol "scouting force" that conquered half of Europe.
Then the mongols came proper and burned the capital and killed everyone, enough that the arab chronicles wrote that the whole bulgar people were killed to the last man.

That said before becoming a vassal of the Golden Horde, a swineherd who called himself Vuilo (later wrongly transcribed as Ivaylo when the original text said "i Vuilo" meaning "and Vuilo") had a rebellion defeated the Byzantines, defeated the Bulgarian king and killed him, then married his wife, then crowned himself king of Bulgaria, then Defeated the mongols under Nogai Khan, then again defeated the Byzantines. Ultimately the Bolyars decided to fuck him over and captured him and sold him to the Mongols where he was later executed.

Thats probably because he was a Conan the Barbarian figure and fell for the "when the military budget and the state budget are one and the same" memes.

This is a veeeeeeery ambitious map for Volga Bulgaria.
You can cut it in half with a horizontal line, and we'd have no idea what went on in the north part, who lived or who ruled there.
Also the whole map is not chronically correct, it is each of the three states at its maximum extent, which didn't occur at the same time.
At no point did the bulgar people hold all that land at once.

We have zero evidence of contact between the two groups.
>>3138944
After separation, they stopped contact.
But obviously before the separation they were in contact, seeing how they were one people.
