It would seem an incredibly stupid move in almost anu scenario. The possibility of meeting a less advanced species and bot already having everything automated is slim. The only thing another speciws wouldbw good for is starting the very begeining of colony in their solar system. The more logical choices are

Honestly it would most likely be genocide. It sounds cruel but the damagw advanced spacefaring species can do is enormous. It would be in our best interests to ensure no one else gets there. Beasically the are several variations of this argument and that is that an advanced spacefaring civilization should be fairly obvious to see. They would be creating alot of radio waves. They would most likely attempt to create structures that could collect almoat of their stars energy which would be obvious to modern scietist is they were looking at it. Also, a spacefaring species expanding at nonrelatavistic speeds can colonize a galaxy in a relatively short period of time (~ 1 million years)

This does however rely on the assumption that physics we use is not fundamentally wrong.
