The assembly of the people (concio) wasn't even a thing after 1423.
They didn't legally have any power over the elections beyond the right to elect some Grand Counselors in 1172. They didn't even have that right after the fucked up election lottery system was instated in 1268.
The presentation of the doge-elect was pure protocol, like when a new pope is presented from the window of St. Peter, it's not part of the election per se.
Basically they just took the doge, showed him out of a window of Palazzo Ducale, and screeched "questi xe monsignor el Doxe, se ve piaxe" at the assembled plebs.
