Remember the Tea party, that Fox news sponsored "small government" movement that put in a bunch of politicians who are still there, and how these people nearly crashed America twice by refusing to pass a budget over taking an issue with the debt ceiling because people got it into their heads that government spending is what caused all of Americas economic woes because it supposedly impeded free trade and capitalism with taxes and regulations? That Glenn Beck time period before Trump but after the housing crisis.
Twice, they almost shut down the entire federal budget twice. No more military, no more nothing. The global community would have lost all faith in America's ability to pay back it's debt and we would have sunk to Greece levels immediately. When other countries lose faith in the ability to pay back the debt, that's when collapse happens.
