I am pretty economically illiterate, but I was wondering from the perspective if economics does advanced computing make socialism more. Does it allow for management and modeling that is more productive and efficient in the long term than free markets?

You need to use quantum computers and to track every consumer good on top of that to reliably use technology to archive optimal planned economy.
>>
>>3111647
Which gets into the question of whether they are doable.

>>3111634
Heh.
>>
One interesting mathematical thing is that you can use certain optimization methods to reach the sub-optimal. Such methods rely on the simplification of the global problem into many local problems. In the end, this is basically just the same things that free market does, when thousand of people chose what to do in their local parts of a market.

1. The biggest problem with socialism is planning the economy.
2. Machine learned AI can be "smarter" than humans.

From these assumptions follows that yes, our computer overlords will bring forth socialism.

HOWEVER these two assumptions have to be true.
I think they might end up being true, but I am not sure yet. Argue those two points, if you get them, then your conclusion does indeed follow.

If all transactions are done with cards, you can follow who buys what in which circumstances, how much of it, combined with what, in what parts of the day and the country, what age and gender, etc etc.

You can collect data very efficiently even today if you had the state force it, and throwing enough processors at the data will analyze it reasonably well.
It is about figuring out how the AI can learn what a cup of Olivier Salad costs to produce, from the ingredients, to the packaging, to the trucks carrying it, the petrol it uses to travel, the paint it has applied to the truck, the ingredients to the paint to be applied to the truck to carry the salad ingredients, etc.

In a free market, you just buy a fucking truck from the market, but in a planned economy you need to make the truck. You need the metal and paint for the truck.
You need to create plastic molds to make the interior of your truck, you have to figure out even that before you can plan your Olivier Salad economy.
Thats the issue.

On a very small scale, yes.
>>
Chile under Allende was about to try this but then Pinochet pig disgusting ruined it all and now I'm paying student loans till 2033, thanks democracy.

It is not known about quantum computation, but if Google already tracks us so could the communist party.

Calculation behind billions of goods and billions of people are insanely hard even if you turn the blind eye on logistics and everything else.

Perfect planned economy can't be solved for sure.

Can planned economy be better than our current system? Maybe, if there exist strong computers, backed up by tons of data.

Personally, I believe that centralized plan wouldn't work either way. The decentralized system where the billions of computers organize economy looks promising for a distant future.
>>
>>3111683
I know this might sound dumb, but why not decentralize the system and have it power off everyone's phones and computers something like bitcoin.
>>
>>3111726
You can do this in theory. It wouldn't be perfect as the global effects will persist in some way or form. It hard to do in practice because the huge political backlash is expected.
>>
>>3111616
>>3111634
In the end you will have a fully luxury communism
>>
>>3111758
Well obviously nothing is perfect im just more interested if its possible. And depending upon how many new jobs can be created after automation takes on full effect there could conceivable be enough upheaval where things that were before politcal suicide become more viable.
>>

Dude, commie machines, LMAO

There actually was a computer network in Chile that did economic optimization, but it was destroyed after the coup. Computers run everything now anyway, all the markets are determined by a series of if-then statements, which is what triggers these flash crashes, since in highly competitive markets, speed is the only edge anyone really has, so they use computers because they are faster than human traders, who can scratch their heads for days if not months, and brokerages buy up entire real estate blocks in manhattan, just to place their servers slightly closer to wall street.

If you really believe Allende could achieve that cybernetic communism with 70'S computers then you are just a brainlet lefty.
>>
Why would you even want that anyway?
