Frog mouth, but that was only used for training/jousting. I can't remember why, but it was deemed impractical in combat.
What's underrated is armor from after the Middle Ages.

They're specifically designed as jousting helmets. They have a very narrow eye slit to prevent splinters from broken lances hitting you and the only way to see your opponent is to tilt your head down. Protection is useful but being able to see your opponent coming is more important on a real battlefield.
