Looking to do an ancestry DNA kit. 23andme looks to be the best I've seen so far. Which is the best kit and why?

Yeah 23&me is good.
I have heard about alternatives but never a good reason why they would be better.

My uncle did an ancestory . com one, i think. so anyways him and this random woman on the other side of the country have an incredibly close match. they get to talking, turns out my grand father slept around back in the 50's knocked up some secretary and the baby was sent for adoption. This woman had been searching her whole adult life for her biological family. but year 23 is pretty good. i guess its the one i used

Depends on what you're interested in. The 23andme test is good all around, fairly quick return time (little less than 3 weeks for me), and you can download the raw data for use on third party sites.

There are more specific tests on FamilyTreeDNA, if you're interested in something specific about your heritage or want to take part in their surname projects.

Originally it was just the ancestry part that appealed to me but the fact that 23andme will tell me a lot more useful shit like my chances of different illnesses and effects of different medication appeals to me too

>medication appeals

The health portion costs extra if done through 23andme. I paid for the ancestry test only then just used my raw data through Promethease for $5. Seems to be common practice.

Doesn't 23andme cost something like 300 bucks?
>>

Do you not have at least a high school diploma ?

Feel free to correct me

I mean, 23andme is $99 cancuck buck's

So by all means for an American it should be cheaper

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
