Can /his/ tell me why anyone would want to be a humanist?

>why would a human want to adopt a philosophy that privileges humans?
because they are human?
It's a reactionary stance to theism. It takes the better and makes it look worse.

Humanism does no such thing. Humanism dehumanizes.
>Humanist beliefs stress the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely rational ways of solving human problems.
>objective value and goodness
>rational
oxymoronic.
I'm a legal egalitarian because I don't believe anybody should have the right to define what characteristics entitle some class of people to privilege. It always ends in nepotism. I don't deny that some people achieve more than others, but they should have to prove it, not inherit it.
As for human rights, I don't believe they're transcendental or objective, but they're necessary to prevent violent revolutions in society. Also, they discourage cruelty - something anybody will protest if inflicted upon them. If you disagree you're a fucking edgelord.

>Can /his/ tell me why anyone would want to be a humanist?
Because they're too oblivious as to the reality of this world to be theists.
