I've been studying world religions and can't consider any of them an absolute truth. As such, I've decided to accept that there likely is no afterlife and focus on living a good life with that assumption until proven otherwise. What do you guys think about it and his ideology in general?

Secular Buddhism for the western people.

Buddhism still has an afterlife system though

Secular Buddhism
That selective reading tho. Did you notice this yourself or were you blind to it? Curious question.

I noticed the secular but didn't know that meant discarding the afterlife system, my bad.

Secular (Buddhism) for Western people
Main keyword is Secular and Western.
Aka they discard anything they consider supernatural (tis not quite clear, so many pick/chose). There's also Naturalistic Buddhism, which is similar but they take a more strict naturalistic explanation for the scriptures rather than completely excluding it.

Oh, gotcha. Thanks.

zen does this too, as do the madyamikas and any serious students of the buddha. the supernatural is incompatible with depenant arising, nonduality, no self, and emptiness.
Epicureanism and Buddhism are good, Heidegger is better. He did start out as a theologian after all.
