Is it stupid thing or right?
Hitler was secretly a communist and lost the war to ensure much of Europe would be communist
he learned that dead people shit their pants upon death and wished to no longer be alone so he made sure he started a war that would kill lots

This is the correct answer. Hitler was a communist.
He thought he could bumrush the U.S.S.R as the popular idea of the time was that it was at death's door. In hindsight it was stupid but you've gotta remember the Nazis we're drunk off of the victory over France.

Hitler hated Germany. He thought of the quickest way to kill 10 million Germans and make them cucks for 10,000 years and invaded Russia without winter gear.
Also he ended up blaming the German people for his mistakes.

The USSR was probably planning on attacking the nazis at some point
But not in 1942. Not for at least a couple years. The reason their forces were all in forward positions was the outdated communist notion of heavily garrisoning the borders to project an aura of strength to the world. At least that was what I believe was originally suggested by Trotsy before he got the axe.
A war where the USSR was the aggressor would have been much easier than what the Nazis did. Germany was afterall much closer to the front.

>Preemptive strike.
Yes. It was possible to wait, but it wasnt so decisive.
German army was stronger than Soviet, they could counter-attack USSR themselves, but USA+UK still would balance the situation for long war with millions of German and Soviet deaths.
After reaching of line Leningrad-Moscow-Stalingrad Western propoganda would start crying about Jews, Soviet, camps and provide lend-lease with same conditions.

Probably some intelligence reports. Soviets been prepared for invasion themselves.

>Soviets been prepared for invasion themselves.
Maybe that is true but the invasion wouldn't have happned until 1943 or 1944. The USSR wasn't ready in 1941.
The Soviets were obviously building a huge army and had already invaded Poland and Finland. When Stalin decided to execute most of the veteran officers, it seemed like a perfect time to strike before the Red Army was ready to leverage its superior resources and numbers. Unfortunately the Nazis didn't rush fast enough and the Red Army became the most powerful in the world, kept at bay only by America's atom bombs. Western civilization got lucky when America showed off those nukes.

I can't help but wonder every time how Stalin thought for a single second that executing his most experienced officers was even close to a good idea
