What on earth caused Inperiam Japan and The Nazis to think bellum se ipsum alet ( the war feeds itself) would work in the industrial war age?
Hurdur our own projections show we need 200,500 gl of oil and 50,000 of iron every two years to substatian the navy and replace our loses if war breaks out. Let's expand our frontier, so we can afford to expand our frontier. Keep in mind rationing was already going on at home, and it was hard to get meat or even rice BEFORE the war expansion.

By 1941 Germans were already feeling hardships at home, which led to tighter and tighter bleeding of the occupied countries, this wasn't a inexsucusable resoruce.
Keep in mind in both cases thier own studies showed they didn't have the materials nerrascy to win the war.

Keep in mind in 1939-40 fiscal year Japan got over 90% of it's oil from the US before the embargo for occupying southern indochina .
