I won't hazard a guess as I don't know the ethnic group very well. But I would like to observe that I was aware that the corners of Polynesia - NZ, Hawaii, and Easter Island - were the last habitable places on earth to be settled by human beings, all circa 1,000 years ago (or more if one accepts the graphic). I guess I just didn't know that it was the so-called Austronesians who did it, then.

Austronesians are Indonesians, Malays, Filipinos, Polynesians, Taiwanese aborigines, Malagasy, and more. It's just really mindboggling how they missed that island-continent.
