After seeing all the /fa/ threads recently, can we have one to discuss where to acquire pieces of historical reproduction clothing and the like, and any interesting stuff any anons might already own. Reenactors especially welcome.
I, personally, would be really interested in known how or where one would go about purchasing a Hussar dolman jacket, in the style of pic related (a French 2nd Empire uniform).
Are there particular places one should look, or particular places to avoid? Do any anons have anything interesting to show? If so post pics.
I don't know much about military historical reproductions, but in terms of civilian fashion your best bet is to look for shops run by people that participate in historical re-enactments or otherwise make their own historical clothing. You can find dozens of "historical dresses" on Etsy or similar shops but most of them are not very historically accurate and tend to be based on generic Simplicity patterns that--while not horrible in their own right, aren't always great as a basis for a historical garment. You will certainly pay more when you shop from these people but it's worth it if you don't have the time or skill to make your own clothing.
The only shops reenactment shops I know sell either "medival" or WW1+2 stuff. Other than that, you should join groups first and then ask where they get their equipment.

Pre-WW1 stuff is probably gonna be quite hard to find and very expensive
Did you google, OP? I found 2 on the first page of results.
