Is religion an opiate?

Nope

Why?
>>3031683
No more than any ideology is

Ok, so it's an opiate found inside a trash can? I thought medical facilities couldn't throw out drugs for that reason?
And we're eating it...who's throwing out all this Oxy?

...and here I always thought Marx was talking figuratively.
opiates are the opiates of the masses though....
damn........

Yeah, but Marxism is the meth of the masses.
it's the most efficient drug to move and control the masses.

It's more like ibuprofen. It relieves pain *and* genuinely heals the soul.
Religion does influence people to keep their feet quiet. However, this needn't be an exclusively bad thing. I, for one, like the prospect of living in a stable society better than that of living in a constant state of uproar and infighting.
Wgy would the concept of hell exist if it we're only an opiate?
