The day Ellen Degeneres came out as an homosexual.

Truly the embodiment of America which shows its vast and rich culture and history since it was founded in ancient times less than 300 years ago.
An event that could rival the conquest of Alexander or the assassination of Julius Caesar.

G-d bless her for being what every American should strive to become.

The civil war easily
The country that came out of the civil war was not the same as the one that came out. Most of the founding fathers had believed that slavery was alright and even made measures to protect it in the Constitution. The only founder who didn't was Thomas Jefferson who wanted the slaves to be sent back to Africa. Lincoln too shared this belief but was assassinated before he could implement deportation to Liberia, a key-turn country built by whites and modeled after America, given freely to the Africans who had left. Furthermore besides the tensions between whites and blacks that we still see today, the civil war also set a precedent that the federal government holds a tyrannical grip on the states and even if 90% of the population does not want a law they will still have to follow it. America was no longer seen as a coalition of states but a single entity with states being the names of their provinces and regions, with small differences in-between.

Stop whitesplaining. Ellen Degeneres coming out took real courage. Not fragile masculinity wars
>>
>>3030069
Not the same as the one that came out before it* or not what the founders had intended
>>
>>3030069
The founding father purposely made sure that there was no mention of slavery in the Constitution because they believed it was a necessary evil that would eventually fall out of favor once technology made slavery obsolete. The founding fathers believed in the rights of states to determine the legality of slavery but made sure that slavery would not persist into the territories due to sweeping legislation that only changed when the south made it abundantly clear they would secede if slavery didn't spread, starting in 1830 with South Carolina's threats and persisting all through the 40s, 50s, until they finally followed through.
Lincoln only ever ONCE brought forth the idea of expatriating former slaves and only then it was those who WILLING VOLUNTEERED to leave. In 1863 Lincoln formally brought this plan to former slaves including Frederick Douglass and this idea was met with so much derision and hostility that Lincoln was so taken aback he never put forth that idea again.
You lying racist prick.

War Between the States takes the cake easily

>largest military confrontation in the history of the Western Hemisphere
>epic conflict that alongside the Revolutionary War changed not only what it meant to be an American, but who is an American
>had a monumental geopolitical effect later on as it led to America's rise as an industrial power
>changed the very nature of war itself, serving as the last stand of Napoleonic line battle and the harbinger of the Total War of the 20th Century
>quite literally decided the fate of the world

TL;DR the American Civil War cast a long shadow in its wake and we're still living in it.

WW1

It was when people finally started taking the US seriously. They had a tiny standing army and only ever flirted with colonial expeditions, they never faced the full might of a european war machine before and came out of it in a dominant position and everybody suddenly realizing what a scary powerful position they had and how strong they could be if they spread their wings.

Obama getting elected. That was when this country started becoming a dictatorship ran by liberal cultural marxists.

0. Revolutionary War. Can't have the US as is and its values without it. But that's kind of a copout.
1. Civil War. Shook up everything.
2. WWI. Where the US became a World Power.
3. WWII. Where the US became a Super Power.
