Generally anything that autistically focuses on technical details will be more /his/ related that films that serve as emotional propaganda or are trying to be "artistic". So Das Boot or Black Hawk Down >>> Come and See and Apocalypse Now.

Pan's labyrinth.
Sure, it has monsters in it, but the portrayal of Spain under Franco and the Maquis is pretty interesting.

There are pretty interesting films about SCW.

Land and freedom (Tierra y Libertad) is a good one, probably the best.

>portrayal of Spain under Franco
It barely portrays that at all other than the ending scene, most of the film is a little girl hanging around goblins and shit. It's like saying Peter Pan is /his/ approved movie about the Victorian England.
>>
>>3029092
>It's like saying Peter Pan is /his/ approved movie about the Victorian England.
are you saying it's not?
>>
>>3028927

Battle of Britain, because of cool airplane maneuvering.

Tora! Tora! Tora!, because we needed a Pearl Harbor done right.

Stalingrad, because no one does WW2 quite like the Germans.

Lawrence of Arabia, because some classics never get old.

I also agree with >>3028943, particularly on the last point.
>>
>>3029103
Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying you fucking subhuman. It's only tangentially related to history and most of the tale is a child hanging around some fantasy world.
>>
>>3029092
No, it's like saying that Salo is a movie about Italian fascism. Don't be so autistic. It doesn't have to be a documentary about tank battles to be directly commenting on the war.

That is a pretty good comedy imo.
>>
The VVitch
Solid period piece with historically accurate dialogue as well
>>
>>3031842
Not him but I actually liked it. It didn't deserve the Oscar, but the costumes, the sets and the dialects were top tier in accuracy and they tried as much as possible to stay true to the source. It also had much less virtue signaling and FUK WHITE PIPO sentiments than you'd expect from such a movie.

Are you on drugs, or do you mean purely from a historical accuracy point of view? enemy at the gates was just a generic "historical" film with le ebil nazi bad guys so you don't have to feel bad when they get killed, pearl harbor was an affront to the concept of film.

Not gonna lie that was one of the big problems with it. I had high hopes after it won awards but the uncomfortable use of the word nigger by the white actors did devolve into comedy after a bit (I remember there being one bit where Giamatti says "Get these Nigger to thine cart" or some shit and it was too much for me). The BIGGEST problem by far was the failure to make it seem like he spent 12 years as a slave though. There was no techniques used to show passage of anywhere near that amount of time. It felt like he spent 12 months as a slave. it's still above average and had some really good bits but it's not as good as I was expecting.
