Ulster Scots actually has a rich poetic corpus but it died out, I would argue, as both a subculture and a language in the 18th century. A lot of Ulster Scots "traditions" are startlingly modern, and the language is a construction unrelated to Scots as it is spoken in Scotland or as it was spoken in 18th century Ulster.

They also arguably represent a distinct ethnic group in eastern Antrim and Down.
