You just have autism. Complex borders between countries exist because of various treaties, years of warfare, ethnic lines, historical consensus etc. They aren't complex to just look pretty.
If you're creating a new country from scratch and want to divide a largely uninhabited land there is no reason why you shouldn't draw the states as rectangles.
