Why are they so based?
Why are their positions within their respective religious spheres so similar?
Why are they so noticeably kind?

Anyone who I have discovered to be Mormon was outrageously kind
Likewise with Sikhs.

There's also a mormon church within my neighborhood

They're better neighbours than muzzies or c*tholics.

Sikhs are cool because one of the founding tenets of the religion is belief in equality and treating everyone well.
Mormons are outwardly wholesome as a form of PR. And that image is enforced through a pretty rigid form of social pressure (see the video above about a church member being shit on for drinking coffee). Mormons are also judgemental as fuck about non-Mormons and can be very dickish in areas where they're not the minority (seriously, every non-Mormon I've known from Utah hates Mormons with a passion because of things like childhood bullying). I grew up around a big enough population of them to know some of the things they don't want "gentiles" to know. They think they're better than you and the only reason they might act nice is out of hope that you'll want to convert through their example.
We already have enough herp- a-derp sects in this country and the rest of the world. Sikhs are just another early modern religion.
Because they're small enough to never be globally relevant on a religious scale by any means, so they overcompensate by having good PR
