Is human progress a myth?
>>3002783
If you are not talking about tech, yes.
>>3002823
How can we measure the 'progress' of technology?
>>3002783
It isn't until it is
>>3002783
Yes, progress implies some linear progression. Human development is a lot more like an ingrown hair getting more fucked up the more we claw at it
>>3002922
I don't know, the more thechnologies a group has mastered tbe more it is technologicaly devlopped maybe

Absolutely. Anytime some liberal science-worshipping whig-history-believing moron talks to me about human progress I always ask them "Progress towards what?" and proceed to shit on their feeble memes.

Progress towards a more just, equitable world.
"The ark of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice."

Spooky

nope, non-linear models of progress are perfectly reasonable. For some reason a bunch of people can't seem to manage spatial metaphors with more than one dimension involved: progress has to be from point A to point B, so-and-so is a spectrum (rather than a plane or even a 3,4,etc. dimensional space), and so on. There's literally no reason to accept the 1-dimensional metaphors as more useful or productive for thought.

If you are implying that progress is always getting better, then yes like Nietzsche said.
That is his critic of Darwinism.
Progress in technology has.
But don't ever forget your still just a clever, savage ape.
don't get me wrong, I enjoy every luxury this modern age gives me. Don't think I won't split your skull open for the last tin of beans though.
Also, enjoy these heady ideas and lifestyle choices. He'll enjoy just the fact you have a right to choose. Because one day, the decline will happen and all bets are off if any semblace of civilization will emerge after the 'bad times' kick in.
Maybe you disagree but every day the decline picks up in front of our eyes, it's just happening so slow most don't see it, particularly the young.
But make no mistake. This upward bill is going to make a sharp dip.
Good luck to your future.
