If Catholics think that good works are necessary for salvation, then why are people in protestant countries more altruistic than people in catholic countries?

Because Catholicism is the more popular denomination in nations where the average person has less to give. Large Protestant nations include many high per capita GDP nations such as the USA, United Kingdom, Germany, etc. while most large Catholic nations are not nearly as rich, e.g. Mexico, Brazil, etc.
what is this graph supposed to show?

Catholic charity is a tool to gain total control over a population.
Hospital - control over your health.
School - control over what you are taught.
Church - control over your behavior
Church - intelligence gathering on your "sins"
Hospice - suffering factory to gain "awareness"
Jesuits - assassins
Priests - "control" who gets into heaven and who does not
Rites and rituals - "controls" who is a member in good standing (and thus saved) and who is not.
The catholic church has never had anything to do with the afterlife, and has nothing to do with making people's lives here on earth free and redeemed. It is the most evil institution on earth with the blood of tens of millions of innocents on its hands.

>building hospitals and schools is a bad thing
that's some pretty extreme mental gymnastics you have going on there. nobody is forcing you to receive charity from these establishments.
