I don't know horse race betting very well but dad has claimed that the bill is much more common in association with this economic activity, as (at some appropriate period/place), apparently two dollars was the minimum bet which could be placed. I tried to corroboroate this with a brief search but was unable to do so.

I have five of the bills in my little treasure box with other uncommon (but no truly rare) currency.
