Those were really just plague doctors. The suit was basically a medieval hazmat like what docs wear for ebola now. Plague doctors were, more often than not quacks, as the real docs stuck to the people they could help and did not risk death. Newbs and idiots specialized in plague to try to make a name for themselves but all they good was a cool halloween costume.
