He was tho
right now we are living the equivalent of the 1848 revolutions but for hitler
>>2968589
The first sign someone doesn't know anything about Napoleon.
>>2968589
in the eyes of the liberal every conqueror was Hitler

Jesus Christ, I understand his point, but it's just comedic hyperbole man.
I was actually reading a snippet out of a book by an english author of famous driving figures of European history at a local bookshop. it's from the war years, and the passage I chanced to glance over made a connection of Napoleon and Hitler as having a similar personal evil about them and so forth.

>IF YOU'RE GONNA TALK ABOUT HISTORY READ SOME FUCKING HISTORY
>France has kicked ass ever since Charlemagne
Gets angry about people not knowing history, then says Charlemagne was french. Good one.
>>2968965
a common mistake
He was better than any fractious concept of french or german
didn't he say that England won the 100 years' war?
are we talking about Napoleon III or the original?
>>2969064
he did
>Zama didn't happen
>Pikemen didn't fight eachother
>Metric is gay
>Boers dying in camps isn't Britains fault
>Cavalry was useless
>France is shit at everything
>>2970418
don't forget
>torches, throwing knives and bracelets are hollywood memes
>3 men could hold a medieval castle
>no one used axes in warfare
>>2968965
He was more French than German. Modern France certainly was formed to a greater part by the Carolingians than modern Germany.
>>2968589
He was a conquerer, so he obviously wasn't that great of a guy, but it's my personal philosophy that we shouldn't judge the quality of character of historical figures, unless they're unforgivable and kill innocents (Hitler, Stalin) or absolutely saintly (Gandhi).
I'm not going to claim Napoleon was a great guy, but he's the pope compared to Hitler.

>I don't judge people unless I decide to judge them
>>2968600
>Since Charlemagne
Stopped watching and disregarded everything

Exceptions to the rule, though I can get how it seems hypocritical.
