Hard to beat the bloodless elegance of suffocating to death over a period days.

Hanged, drawn and quartered
It's like a firing squad, but with a cannon.
Probably one of the more humane means of execution, as the victim was instantly blown to bits and there was no chance of a botched execution where the victim survives in pain for a while.

I think cruxifiction is really overrated when it comes to inhumanity and pain. The initial shock of having nails stuck in your bones would probably cause a huge release of endorphins and any pain afterwards would feel like a joke by comparision. Fairly soon you'd pass out from blood loss and overexposure and you'd suffocate from not being able to heave yourself upwards to breath.
The beginning is extreme and it looks horrifying but I'd gladly die that way rather than some of these other really creative and slow ways.
You really can't beat the guillotine. The swift, efficient bringer of justice.

Beach bury - allegedly used by some pirates. Bury a person in sand during low tide so only their head sticks out and wait as the tide comes in and out causing the person to gasp for air until it covers their head drowning them. I dont know if there are any records of anyone in particular actually being executed by this method.
