>Be East Asian
>Receive Buddhism from Northern India, a noble, Indo-Aryan faith born as an offshoot of Hinduism/early Paganism
>Turn it into a soulless series of rote-memorized, elaborate hollow rites with some folk superstition attached
Why did we let East Asians take ownership of Buddhism and ruin it in the process bros?
>east asians invented rote-memorization in buddhism
>east asians invented elaborate hollow rites in Buddhism

Chinks claim ownership of Buddhism now. They've sinified it and tout it as a cultural product to be proud of, even though Gautama Buddha wasn't a chink and the guy who introduced it into chinkland had blue eyes.
Perhaps just one example where the phrase "cultural appropriation" actually fits.

Chinks have no ownership of Buddhism, unless you live in a chink culture. Outside of that, the ownership of Buddhism is linked to cultural identity. In Chinksphere its East-Asian Buddhism. In Tibet, its Tibetan Buddhism. In Japan/Korean, its Japanese/Korean Buddhism. In SEA/SA its Theravada.

its not their fault that pajits abandoned buddhism for hin-pooism
Anon, if you like one school of Buddhism over another that's ok. If the others don't appeal to you that's ok. Go with the ones you like and see where they take you.
Everybody is different so they will like different schools/aesthetics/expressions/rituals/etc. You can't expect the same exact practice to accord with every single person across this earth.
I've heard both theravada and mahayana practitioners argue that the adaptability of buddhism is a good thing as it allows people from vastly different cultures and walks of life to understand the dharma.
Remember the dharma is a vehicle. Don't obsess over the vehicle itself but where it takes you and others.
Which form of Buddhism is the most "Hindu"?

In what way?

I don't know man, which one is the most authentic to the Buddha, and which one is most influenced by Hindu theology and philosophy?

So what? Jesus was an ethnic Jew but Christianity quintessentially became a part of Europe and other countries. Muhammad was an ethnic Arabian yet Iranians contributed the most to Islam. Etc...

Theravada probably. Try reading the Dhammapada, it's the earliest collection of the Buddhas teachings and pretty simple to read.

South East Asia Buddhism is mixed with Hindu rituals. So they would be closer to Hindu theology.
Sri Lanka/Burma are more orthodox teaching as its roughly been the same since it was established.
Tibetan Buddhism is possibly influenced by hindu philosophy/theology, its heavy into tantra. But there is the argument that tantra itself is not Hindu proper but rather incorporated into Hindu (and Buddhism) as it came much later.
