It'll probably happen, but way later than anybody hyping it now it claiming (see current fusion power research despite fusion being right around the corner for almost 50 years prior. Nobody wanted to fund it.)

Depending on you you ask, that's not the goal. Most say a technological singularity is simply the point beyond which speculation on the future is not feasible due to accelerating technological returns. Others would argue that the super endgame is finding the ultimate fate of the universe and avoiding it if it's unfavorable, but such a discussion would only really mater to a post-singularity society in the first place.

the idea that technological advances speed up our ability to make more technological advances is true. things like the steam engine, and computers are good modern examples. transhumanism aspects are pretty meme though.
